How to move a VisualTime system from one server to aother

On the new application server:
Install the IIS 6 compatibility mode components from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb397374(v=exchg.80).aspx and the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework.

2
Enable the ASPX extensions as required. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771240(v=ws.10).aspx

On the new application server, install the same version of VisualTime as on the old server. This will create a brand new empty VisualTime database on your new database server.

4
When prompted for the license activation key use the existing key from your existing deployment. The key can be found under
Management Console - License keys.

If the OS of the new application server is Windows 2012 follow the instructions provided in this article:
http://support.visualtime.com/KB/a49/how-to-install-the-visualtime-system-on-windows-2012.aspx

http://support.visualtime.com/KB/a31/visualtime-database-restore-utility.aspx

Un-check the "Preserve settings of current database", browse for the .bak file and select "Restore database". Your production database will be restored on the new server

9
Run the VsualTime client on the new server and verify it connects to the new server and you see your production data as expected.

10
Verify the URL displayed at the top left of the screen in the VisualTme client is the one of the new server.
Close the VisualTime client.

11
On an existing client workstation run the VsualTime client from the new server and verify it connects to the new server and you see your production data as expected. If the client fails to connect or if it connects to the old server follow the instructions provided in this article:
http://support.visualtime.com/KB/a36/visualtime-fails-to-connect-to-the-server.aspx
