How to apply a VisualTime software upgrade your VisualTime on premise deployment

Note:
Before proceeding to upgrading your system make sure you have a valid backup of the existing VisualTime database and a backup of the C:\Program Files\VisualTime\ folder.


Follow the steps below for to applying a VisualTime software upgrade your VisualTime on premise deployment:

  1. Log in as  Administrator on your existing application server.
  2. Run the VsualTime for Windows client and verify it connects to the existing server and that you can see your production data as expected.
  3. Verify the URL displayed at the top left of the screen in the VisualTme for Windows client is the URL of the server you are connecting to. Make note of the VisualTime version displayed at top right side of the screen (eg 1.100.50)
  4. Open the VisualTime Management Console  and select License keys. Copy your existing license key string and save it to a text file for future use.
  5. Exit the  VsualTime for Windows client.
  6. Copy the zip file contained the VisualTime update downloaded from the www.visualtime.com on the application server and unzip the VisualTime setup program contained in the zip file to a folder on the application server (eg. C:\temp\).
  7. On the application server launch the VisualTimeSetup,exe installation program.
  8. The setup program should automatically detect your existing VisualTime deployment.
  9. When prompted select Upgrade an existing deployment.
  10. When prompted for the license activation key use the key copied ate st step 4.
  11. Provide the address including the instance name of the SQL server hosting the VisualTime database (eg.  Server1\SQLEXPRESS2008R2) together with the sa account and the password.
  12. The VisualTime setup program will create a backup of your database and will update the existing VisualTime deployment.
  13. After the upgrade procedure completes re-run the VsualTime for Windows client and verify it connects to the existing server and that you can see your production data as expected.
  14. Review the VisualTime version displayed at top right side of the screen and make sure the number represents the upgraded version.
